SUPERMOON IN ARIES SEPTEMBER 29, 2023: LEADERSHIP; COURAGE; ROMANCE; TRUTHS REVEALED

Updated: Sep 30, 2023

Happy SuperMoon in Aries! This Super Full Moon at 6 degrees of Aries becomes exact on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 5:57 AM New York time (09:57 GMT). As a reminder, a SuperMoon occurs when the moon is physically closer to the Earth than usual, thus amplifying its effects.

This Aries Full Moon initiates another Eclipse Season, being the New or Full Moon prior to the first Eclipse. This Eclipse Season will last through November 13; the main events are the New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Libra on October 14, and the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse in Taurus on October 28.

During Eclipse Season, we receive energetic downloads (we could call these codes) that serve to unravel what we no longer need to carry with us, while also redirecting us in the direction of our Highest Destiny in this life.

Eclipse Season is an unsettled time when everything is undergoing recalibration. It is an uncertain time and it is certainly a time to expect the unexpected.

Aries is a cardinal fire sign. It is the first sign of the Zodiac and the ruler of the First House--the House of Self. This house is associated with the Rising Sign (your Rising Sign is the cusp of your First House) and is in charge of our personality—how we appear and present ourself to the world, and how the world perceives us.

The ruler of Aries is Mars, the most masculine and aggressive planet. Aries’s glyph is The Ram. The Ram is aggressive, masculine and relentless. Aries carries a phallic energetic quality to it; it is the spark that starts the fire that carries a manifestation around the Zodiac Wheel until it ‘dematerializes’ in Pisces and becomes ether or spirit. Aries then takes the potential energy of the ethereal Pisces and materializes it—and thus the Zodiac Wheel goes ‘round and ‘round.

Mars rules over strength and physical vitality. Aries exudes leadership, individualism, power, strength, athleticism, aggressiveness.

With the Full Moon in the same sign as the North Node—which represents the soul’s destiny on Earth—we are being called, in the 28 days that follow this Full Moon, to step into our power and leadership.

Being a leader of others is a thoroughly Aries quality. You might be feeling an inner call around this time to take charge and assert yourself better to others. It feels great to have healthy and open solar plexus and throat chakras, and to assert yourself effectively. It’s important to remember, though, that there is such a thing as being overly aggressive or assertive.

There will be lots of angry (and violent) people about around and after this Aries SuperMoon, especially with Venus in super-expressive and individualistic Leo squaring the Retrograde Uranus (the ‘wild card’ planet). It’s wise to avoid these types of people at all costs, while we are in such a potentially volatile and violent astrological energy.

Aries also teaches us how to be leaders in our own lives (our own worlds). Sometimes, it’s much easier to be a leader of others than to be an effective leader in our own life. I would say that the key words to being an effective leader in your own life are discipline, perseverance, and decisiveness.

Here are some journaling questions to help you self-discover a deeper level of leadership in your own life:

  • In which parts of my life do I feel totally in control?

  • In which parts of my life do I feel out of control?

  • What is it about feeling out of control that feels comfortable and familiar?

  • Is there anything that I can give up, that might help me to be more in control of my life?

  • What are some spiritual practices I can make a priority that would help me to be more self-disciplined?

  • What are some distracting activities that are throwing me off track or keeping me unfocused?

  • What possibilities and opportunities could being more disciplined open up for me?

  • Do I have a tendency to give up too easily?

  • What is it about giving up, or failing, that feels comfortable and familiar?

  • Do I let other people dissuade me, or motivate me? Am I keeping the best company?

  • How might sticking with things when they get tough open up wonderful opportunities for me?

  • Am I decisive or do I tend to struggle with making decisions?

  • What is it about being indecisive that feels comfortable and familiar?

  • Do I fear making the wrong decision?

  • What if there were no wrong decisions, and all decisions simply lead us down different paths-- but toward the same destiny?

  • Could I be more forgiving and tolerant of myself?

  • Could I be more OK with messing up?

  • Could I look at everything as a learning experience? How does that feel, to look at everything as a learning experience?

  • Could I go about life in a lighter, less serious way?

The Full Moon in Aries of course opposes the sun in Libra. While Aries rules over the House of Self (the 1st), Libra rules over the House of Partnerships (the 7th). While Aries is concerned with expressing the self, asserting the self, and leading others, Libra is concerned with merging into partnership, and creating an even and fair playing field.

Every Full Moon is an opportunity to find balance between the two polarities that we are working with in the Zodiac Wheel. The Aries-Libra polarity is especially important to explore right now due to the fact that the Lunar Nodes are currently in the Aries-Libra polarity. With Uranus (Retrograde) in Taurus trining Mercury (now Direct) in Virgo and Pluto (Retrograde) in Capricorn (forming a very loose Grand Earth Trine), the energies right now are supporting clear, authentic, and free self-expression.

A good question to ask yourself is: How could being my truest self more authentically actually help me to connect better with others?

Sometimes, we feel like we can’t be that most authentic version of self because the people around us won’t accept it. We might believe that we will be rejected by others, or that others will push back and put us ‘back in our place’.

Asserting yourself better, or becoming more authentically you, can be one of the scariest things in life. And it is certainly very reasonable to wonder, or to fear, losing others in the process. However, the truth is that the highest-vibration interpersonal connections will support you in emerging as your most authentic self, while others will fall by the wayside.

I’ve experienced that so many times by now in my own journey. A few friends from my past have evolved with me, and remain supportive and fun friendships. But the vast majority have fallen by the wayside. It is a part of the Ascension process—and life in general—that I’ve actually always embraced.

Romances, friendships, animal companions, coworkers, clients, family members: they all come and go, and that is a good thing. All things are impermanent, and you are meant to have different interpersonal connections at different stages of your life journey.

EXPEMPLIFYING COURAGE

Aries the Ram also illustrates the Divine Masculine trait of courage. Think of one of your favorite movies. The movie you're thinking of most likely had a hero (perhaps it was the protagonist themself). The hero always must embody courage at certain points in their journey. And to be courageous usually requires taking risks.

We all can think of situations in our life when we took a risk and it paid off. Perhaps you followed a hunch and found yourself rewarded--or perhaps you said 'screw it' and did something fun that was a bit risky. Maybe you decided to take a job in another state and you ended up meeting your future partner. In these situations, you accessed the inner courage necessary to take a leap of faith.

Oftentimes, a soul will write into the Life Plan one or several 'big' situations where courage is one of the intended lessons to be learned. You might be presented with a big opportunity, however perhaps it might require moving out of your comfort zone. If you take the risk, it might mean you pass that particular lesson (not that it will likely or necessarily be your last lesson in courage)--while if you decide to play it safe it likely means you'll get another opportunity to show off your inner courage down the line.

Ever get that feeling that you should just take a leap of faith and go for it? Those are the exact instances where you will find inner courage paying off handsomely. Imagine harnessing that strong Aries energy—with its unlimited potential—and utilizing it to take that leap of faith, like the alchemist in The Magician card in the tarot harnessing the Universal energy with his crystal wand pointed to the sky.

Here are some questions to consider when pondering the role of courage in your life:

- What situations can I recall where I acted on the courage of the Spiritual Warrior within me?

- How did it feel to act on that courage?

- Do I have access to this courage any time I want to?

- Is there a situation in my life right now where I feel the Universe is asking for me to take a courageous risk or leap of faith?

- How could taking more risks lead to a greater sense of fulfillment in my life?

- How could I present myself more authentically and courageously to the world?

- What would ten percent more courage in my life look like? What would it feel like?

RELATIONSHIP HARMONY/MEETING SOMEONE NEW?

We are in Libra season, which is the season of partnership and harmony in relationships. Venus, which represents women and the feminine energies, sextiles Mars, which represents men and the masculine energies, making it a wonderful time to experience some much-needed harmony in romantic partnerships (this includes non-heterosexual relationships, too).

Spend some quality time with your partner; with Venus still being in Leo, it’s a great time to go on fun dates (with the square to Uranus you might find yourself stepping outside your comfort zone on dates!)

If you’re single, it’s a great time to meet someone new, as with the Venus-Mars sextile, people will be drawn to one another romantically like magnets—and with the SuperMoon in Aries and Chiron opposing Mars, most everyone will be feeling concupiscent.

OTHER ASPECTS OF NOTE

  • Uranus, Neptune and Pluto (all Retrograde) are forming a Minor Grand Trine, as Uranus sextiles Neptune, Neptune sextiles Pluto, and Uranus trines Pluto. This is a very harmonious and expansive energy that opens up creativity, and the ability to connect with guides and the Spirit World in general. If you are intuitive, you may be feeling that the doors to the Spirit World are pretty open right about now-- and they are. Psychic and intuitve practices may be much easier at this time.

  • Mars conjuncts the South Node in Libra (of course opposing the North Node in Aries), making it a good time to work on harmonizing your physical health. Diets, cleanses, meditation practices, and exercise are all a good idea at this time. The Aries SuperMoon can make it difficult to sleep for some, though.

  • Pluto continues to square the North Node, giving us energetic motivation to make deep, transformative, and necessary changes. Also, the energies support truths being revealed to the collective. This has been happening strongly this year. Both of these things will become more amplified as we get further into Eclipse Season, and as Pluto becomes more exalted (amplified) as it enters its Station Phase.

Pluto is already slowing down quite a bit; it will, for all intents and purposes, enter its Station Direct Phase on October 5. Even when it starts (for all intents and purposes) moving back Direct on October 16, it will still be quite exalted when the sun enters Pluto-ruled Scorpio on October 23.

  • Chiron opposing Mars also gives us motivation to bring out our healing abilities. Now is a great time to take a class or course that will help to augment your spiritual gifts.

Wishing you a Happy SuperMoon in Aries!

With Love,

Matthew John
