Happy Super New Moon in Leo! This New Moon becomes exact on Wednesday, July 31 at 11:11 p.m. EDT (yep!) or 03:11 GMT on August 1.
Congratulations, you have survived Eclipse Season! Woohoo! It's a great time to meditate on all that you've experienced and learned over the past six weeks. What has come up for you? What did you have to negotiate? What do you now know about yourself that you didn't know before this Eclipse Season? Is your life physically different in any way? What has been taken away from you that you intuitively know you don't actually need anymore going forward? Feel free to journal on these questions.
Eclipse Season is such a special gift. We won't actually know the extent of the changes that have occurred within us (and in the collective) just yet, as the effects of Eclipse Season last for six months.
Now that we've made it through Eclipse Season and Mercury Retrograde has ended (it stations on the night/morning after the New Moon and then begins marching back Direct), the energies read as 'all systems go' for our lives. It's time to really harness our Warrior Selves and make the changes in our lives that the wisdom of Eclipse Season has shown us we need to!
The chess pieces are aligned this August for movement and success. It is an opportunistic time, so don't let it pass you by! If you've been feeling called to switch careers, change residences, leave a relationship, or make any other significant shifts in your life, the stars are aligned for those changes to happen now, with this New Moon.
HONORING THE INNER CHILD
Leo is definitely the most expressive of the Zodiac signs. It could also be said that Leo is the most childlike. The desires to express oneself, to play, to make art, to make love, to entertain and be entertained, are all traits of Leo. As this is a Super New Moon—meaning the Moon is physically closer to the Earth than usual, thus augmenting its effects—we are certainly going to be feeling Leo the Lion's roar.
If you have Leo as your Sun, Moon, or Ascendant, you will definitely be feeling that performer, entertainer, comedian, or lover in you come out to play. Even if you don't have Leo as one of those aspects, you're likely to feel more playful and open than usual. It's a great time to go out and be social, to reconnect with old friends, and to make new ones.
As adults, we can become so disconnected with how it feels to be a child. Lately, I have found myself recalling how amazing and adventurous everything was when I was a kid. How summer days seemed to last forever and how much fun my friends and I had just being silly and playing games.
I am so grateful for my dogs, as they bring me into that childlike consciousness constantly. Everything is exciting to a dog! Something as simple as a stick can provide an hour of fun. One of the many irreplaceable gifts that dogs gives to humans is helping us adults to learn to play again, to be present, and to ground to the Earth.
Most adults in today's Western world have become disconnected from their Inner Children. Society is structured in a way that most people don't even have time to connect with their Inner Child, as they are too busy just trying to earn enough money to survive. And many of those who do make more than enough to survive end up finding themselves lost in illusions like greed, substances, and ungrounded sex.
In fact, one of the reasons that teens and adults find themselves so enamored with alcohol, drugs, and sex is that it gives them and outlet to play. (Note: I'm not saying there's anything inherently wrong with alcohol, certain herbal substances that are classified as drugs, or sex; it's all about how they are used.)
But we can find ways to play while being totally sober and while not engaging in sexual activity, just like a child or animal can. We can run around in circles with our dogs. We can make silly faces at our partner or kids. We can make jokes. We can go for a barefoot walk in the woods. We can go for a swim in the lake. We can play catch with a baseball. We can go camping, put away our phones, and play board games. We can sing silly songs.
Doing an Inner Child meditation would be a great idea during this Leo season. I like to take myself in my mind to a beautiful forest scene and really sink into this setting. I then imagine my Inner Child approaching from a distance, and I ask him what is it he needs from me that I haven't been giving him? I embrace him, I hug him, and I make sure he feels like I am there for him and I am listening to him.
If you've never done an Inner Child meditation before, you may find that your Inner Child shows up at the age that you feel like you experienced the most trauma and abuse. This is because whatever basic physical or emotional needs that weren't met by your caretakers at that age are what you then spend the rest of your lifetime healing.
The things that people say or do that trigger you most directly relate to those unmet needs of your Inner Child. As an Awakening being, you now have the opportunity to heal your Inner Child and experience the liberation of being a fully integrated sovereign adult consciousness. To do this, we first must get to know the voice of the Inner Child and identify what needs he or she has.
When the Inner Child's needs haven't been met and then are continuously ignored during adulthood, the Inner Child must find a way to get the conscious attention of the operator of the consciousness. So, the Inner Child will put on a scary mask, so to speak, and become the Shadow. The Shadow Self can trigger you to act out in the darkest of ways, or even to attract people to treat you in nasty ways. The Shadow Self may sabotage your dreams and make it difficult for you to move forward.
The good news is that by listening to the voice of the Inner Child, the Inner Child feels seen, heard, and acknowledged, and thus doesn't need to morph into the Shadow to get your attention. When we consciously make the choice to honor those needs that the Inner Child has let us know he or she has, we can make rapid leaps forward in our spiritual development.
Here are some questions to ask yourself to help you get into deeper communion with your Inner Child. I would recommend journaling on these, if you have the time:
- If I had to guess, what would my Inner Child say about my life as it is now? Would (s)he be happy about it?
- If I had to guess, what would my Inner Child say about my current living environment? Would (s)he be happy about it?
- If I had to guess, what would my Inner Child say about my current job/career? Would (s)he be happy about it?
- If I had to guess, what kind of things have I been neglecting to give my Inner Child that (s)he needs?
- Which activities or creative endeavors from my childhood have I neglected lately? - - Have I been taking life too seriously?
- Do I let myself fall into the trap of the seriousness of those around me?
- In what ways am I still mean or nasty to myself? How can I stop being mean or nasty to myself?
- Am I OK with failing? How could I learn to be OK and forgive myself when I fail or mess up?
- Do I forgive myself instantly or do I tend to hold things against myself?
- How could I practice instant self-forgiveness?
- Do I tend to let others' negative emotions take me over? How could I avoid this pitfall?
- Am I OK looking silly or stupid to others? Does what others think of me really actually matter?
- Am I truly honoring my deepest desires?
VENUS AND MARS JOIN THE SUN AND MOON IN LEO
There's a whole lot of Leo energy going around now, as Venus and Mars are both also in this extroverted sign. When Venus is in Leo, we feel romantic, flirtatious and enjoy attention. If you are currently in a relationship, it's a good time to plan some special dates with your lover – the kind of dates that remind you of being a teenager would be ideal. Stale relationships may receive a much-needed rekindling while Venus is in Leo.
If you've recently had a romantic relationship end, then Venus in Leo may signal a good time for you to go out and be social and perhaps meet someone new. If your relationship has been rocky through Eclipse Season and it could be on the outs, then Venus in Leo may be the 'make or break' time. If it has been feeling like a relationship you've been in has reached its natural conclusion, don't delay the inevitable simply because Venus is in Leo. Eclipse Season is the truth teller, and if by this New Moon you know deep down that your relationship is over, then allow the Soul Contract to be complete. On a Soul Level, when a romantic relationship reaches its natural conclusion, it is actually viewed as a celebration, as both Souls have chosen to enter into a new stage of their life.
When Mars is in Leo, it feels natural to access our inner courage. We like to take risks and take Leaps of Faith. Mars in Leo really highlights the Divine Masculine within all of us, regardless of sex or gender. We will feel called to show off our skills and strengths to others, even if we tend to be shy. The shadow side of Mars in Leo is that people can also tend to show off their 'puffed-up egos' even more readily than usual. If you come across someone like this in person or social media, just allow them to have their moment in the sun, then walk way and chuckle to yourself. LION'S GATE PORTAL TO SIRUS IS OPEN
Every year during Leo season, Earth aligns with Sirius and the star Sirius A appears closer to Earth. This is known as the annual Lion's Gate. You can be sure that during this period, which this year runs from July 26 to August 12, the Earth is being flooded with high-dimensional Sirian energies. Many upgrades within our consciousness occur during this time. Sirian Starseeds (like yours truly) may feel like they are 'on point' or 'in their element' during this time.
Sirius is tied to Egypt (perhaps the Sirians built the pyramids?), so a great way to integrate the Lion's Gate energies and connect with our Sirian brothers and sisters is to put your attention on all things Egyptian. Bring the pyramids and the Sphinx into your meditations. Invoke the Egyptian Gods, if you like connecting with them. Also, you can intend to travel to Sirius during your meditations and meet with the blue people. The most potent day to do this of course is when the Lion's Gate peaks on 8-8. The best word of advice I have for Sirian Starseeds (and really for all Lightworkers) during this Lion's Gate is to be your best self. Be free, be social, be funny, and be positive. Be your Highest Self.
Wishing you Love, Healing, and Fun on this Super New Moon!
With Love,
Matthew John
